Oh Mary, don't you weep, don't you mourn. Barack Obama can swim.

It is not my or our intent to be melancholy. It is only to take this occasion to share a joy that has too long been delayed and a fear that something or someone will screw it up. We cannot think that way now because the new life and the new circumstance are far too important for us to destroy with our hypodermic needle full of reality shoved into our buttocks as we sit down to thank God for all that we have. Do we forget God in this exercise? Some of us don't even believe in God. Look ahead of yourself. There is something, somebody, somewhere, somehow who has guided everything we are and everything we ever will be. Have no fear my child. "Don't think twice. It's alright," as one rock and roll song of recent vintage declared. Everyday should be Mother's Day, and if those days are not available, there should be Big Sister's Days and Mother's-to-be Days. That's who we are. That's where we came from and that's who we'll forever be.

Don't cry, don't mourn. Just remember the gospel song that insisted: "Oh Mary, don't you weep, don't you mourn. Oh Mary, don't you weep, don't you mourn cause Pharaoh's army got drowned. Oh Mary, don't you weep. One of these days bout twelve o'clock this old world is gonna reel and rock cause Pharaoh's army got drowned. Oh Mary, don't you weep." Whenever you read this piece until the 20th of January, consider a parable that the whole administration that led us towards this present destruction is now out of office. It is easy for us to believe that they were the Pharaoh's army and all the Marys in the world and all the mothers in the world will latch on to this event as a sign--the time has come done rather than undone. Pray if it is your wont, curse if it is yours, sing if that is what you would rather do. But most especially, hug someone who deserves it. Kisses will come later.

Happy inauguration, Mr. President Obama. May all your troubles be small ones, the kind that cry maybe? A new world is abornin'.
