JULY: The Magical Weekend of Music!

"Great Jazz on the Great Hill,"

  • What: a free outdoor concert on the Great Hill of Central Park. A multigenerational celebration of big band jazz and swing dancing.
  • Presented by Jazzmobile in partnership with the Central Park Conservancy, Harlem Week, the Greater Harlem Chamber of Commerce, Harlem Arts Alliance, WBGO-FM and the NY Amsterdam News.
  • Where: On the Great Hill at Central Park West, from 103rd to 107th streets.
  • When: Sat., July 30

"A Great Day in Harlem: An Empire State of Mind"

  • When: Sun., July 31
  • Time: Part 1: 1-3 p.m. International cultural showcase, featuring Millennium Dance Company, National Dance Institute and the African Chorus Ensemble.
  • Time: Part 2: 3-4:30 p.m. International gospel showcase, featuring Bishop Hezekiah Walker, the Love Fellowship Choir and others.
  • Time: Part 3: 4:30-5:30 p.m. Fashion fusion showcase.
  • Time: Part 4: 6-8:30 p.m. Harlem SummerStage presents "A Concert Under the Stars," a salute to international music legends featuring the Jeff Foxx Band and Rahsaan Patterson. Saluting music legends Dave Valentin and Johnny Gill, with a special tribute to Gil Scott-Heron.

AUGUST: Harlem's Healthy Eating Outdoor Farmers Market & Expo

When: Every Tuesday and Saturday in August

  • Time: 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
  • What: Discover fresh fruits, vegetables, spices, baked goods, herbs, oils, etc., with live cooking demos by selected chefs.
  • Where: On the plaza at the Adam Clayton Powell Jr. State Office Building, West 125th Street and Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard.
