In these tough economic times, it may not be as easy to get gifts or do the activities you would like for the holidays, but have no fear. With these cheap or free events throughout the city, the holiday season is sure to be a fun one for children and adults alike.

The American Museum of Natural History is having a Kwanzaa event on New Year’s Eve from 12-6 p.m. The event will feature spoken word, song and dance and will honor the seven principles of Kwanzaa. In the Bronx, Soul of the Bronx Radio, Bronx Entrepreneurs and Business Network, among other groups, will be hosting a holiday coat/book drive and networking event on Friday, Dec. 23, 6:30 p.m., at Bruckner Bar. Admission is free and there will be karaoke and live entertainment.

At Boys and Girls High School in Brooklyn, Dr. Maulana Karenga, the creator of Kwanzaa, will lecture, meet and greet with the community. The event starts at 7 p.m.
