This season, men's shirt fashion news narrows down to fit-slim fit, to be exact, basically a slimmer silhouette. For a more tailored fit and style, shirts are contoured to give you a more comfortable fit, tapered at the waist. Of course, there's the standard regular fit, but it's nice to be able to take your pick and make sure your shirt fits you perfectly.
PVH, the source for such iconic dress shirt brands as Arrow, Izod and Van Heusen, is in top form. Their newest collection offers a bounty of slim, trim shirts that define all that is youthful and modern.
From Van Heusen's new collection Van Heusen Studio, the shirts literally fit a man's body true to form. This upbeat collection is 100 percent slim fit and pocket-free. The focus is on a new comfort stretch fabric that goes with the flow.
For the fashion avant-garde and a new generation, every aspect of the design is proportionately smaller, particularly the collars, cuffs and plackets. Stripes, checks and plaids are sleek, bold, vibrant and colorful. The look embraces a casual ease of sophisticated dressing that's now.
One highlight of the regular Van Heusen collection, is Lux Sateen, a power fabric in high-gloss, rich colors of viola, pine, Persian blue, blue stone, helio, harvest and mulberry. Another interpretation is Van Heusen's fitted Satin Stripes, saturated color combined in high- and low-sheen in stunning black, white and other spectacular colors such as boysenberry, Siberian purple and dusky gray.
Van Heusen also abounds with dimensional mixes of raised and flat surfaces. These styles are compelling in burnt orange paired with smoke gray and are amazingly elegant in inky blue combined with forest green. An upcoming style detail, the Euro spread collar looks dashing and debonair.
In fine form, Izod's preppy, young slim shirt collection is replete with all-American collegiate charm. The focal point in this group is also slim-fitted, as well as wrinkle-free varsity button-down oxfords in classic white and blue. There are lifestyle updates-pop oxfords in solid colors of deep plum, deep red and tasty wine.
Also in the trendy, casual-for-business collection is an abundance of lively gingham, tattersall and awning stripes. Izod's classic twill collection is clean and clear in a full range of more subdued jewel tones infused with crimson, garnet, plum, royal blue, cadet blue, chino and hunter green. This group offers solids and checks as well. Izod is richly hued, authentic, never faded or worn.
Arrow's USA 1851 collection is also on the straight and narrow with a new emphasis on fitted shirts. Slim sateen solids are presented with increased luster and a new chintz finish. Plums are primary and reinforced by poppy, walnut, nickel, azure and glossy white and black.
Slim fit continues to grow in the Arrow collection with the introduction of a stretch poplin in smart solids, glam gingham checks and contemporary stripes. The model is updated with a new smaller, slimmer front placket and relaxed collar. Look for fitted mini-check shirts in rich, gleaming jewel tones.
