Two new swimwear lines, Rica and Angela Martini, launched their collections this season. They are both featured in the new Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition.
Rica, presented by Ava Sanjuro, is a vibrant and sensuous new collection. Rica Swimwear offers a custom line of extraordinary, fashion-forward pieces that are as appropriate for the runway as they are for the beach. Specially created with luxurious fabrics from Spain, each of Rica's unique swimsuits and cover-ups features innovative designs. They are handcrafted into flattering shapes that make women look and feel their best.
Sanjuro was born and raised in the Bronx. Her love affair with fashion began early in her life--influenced by her grandmother's colorful collection of accessories and her sister's New Wave ensembles, she was further inspired by '90s fashion photography and the local music scene. She fueled her design passion by enrolling in the renowned High School of Fashion Industries.
Upon graduation, Sanjuro continued her education at FIT. For the past several years, she has honed her swimsuit design skills while working for large-scale swimwear manufacturers. Look for her exquisite detailing and high standards in each of her garments. Sanjuro will debut her second collection of Rica Swimwear during Miami Swim Week in July.
Angela Martini bikinis offer women the chance to have a fabulous custom fit in top and bottom pieces. Each piece is designed to work with all of the others in the collection--they are all sold separately, so mix-and-match styling is encouraged.
Martini's search for the perfect black or white bikini led her to create the entire collection based solely on those two colors. Her collection is classic and sexy, featuring animal prints and stone or metallic embellishments. The use of white cotton crochet and whimsical illustrations are also standout effects.
"I'm a girl's girl. All of the people on my team are women, and I don't believe that all other girls are competition; I believe that women empower each other," said Martini.
Martini won her first beauty contest at the age of 7 in her hometown of Shkoder, Albania. When she was 10 years old, she moved to Switzerland with her family and was frequently approached to model. She holds the title of Miss Universe Albania and competed in the Miss Universe 2010 pageant in Las Vegas.
With the launch of her company, the Martini Corporation, bikinis are just the start of Martini's future fashion empire. She will make an appearance at the company's debut at Miami Swim Week this July.
