Bronx swimwear designer stars in Miami shows

Ava Sanjuro, born and raised in the Bronx, created a fashion furor at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Miami. Her spring/summer 2013 Rica Swimwear collection received huge applause.

The line features extraordinary fashion-forward pieces. For this presentation, Sanjuro utilized luxurious fabrics from Spain that are handcrafted into form-flattering shapes. Her innovative designs are coupled with unique cover-ups.

Rica's collections are designed for the woman who likes to feel confident in her swimsuit and walks on the beach. Only her second collection, Sanguro's swimsuits were cleverly cut, colorful and sophisticated yet sexy on the Miami runway.

During her childhood, Sanjuro developed a love affair with fashion. She was influenced by members of her family, from her sister's new wave ensembles to her grandmother's colorful accessories.

Her work has also been heavily inspired by the bustling world round her. This includes everything from '90s fashion photography to the local music scene. Highly focused on design from a young age, Sanjuro enrolled in the renowned High School of Fashion Industries. Upon graduation, she went to the Fashion Institute of Technology, where she studied under the brightest and most creative minds in fashion.

For the past several years, Sanjuro has honed her skills while working for various swimwear manufacturers. Today, her designs can be seen on almost every beach in the world, as well as on a select celebrity clientele.

The entire Rica Swimwear Collection truly applauds and compliments the female shape. Rica swimsuit styles are a distinct expression of the devotion of Sanjuro's creative and artistic spirit. The exquisite details and high standards worked into each Rica garment are at once apparent to any wearer of the label.

Good Show!
