Amsterdam News in the Classroom is the Amsterdam News' "Newspapers in Education program" (NIE).
The program was created as a way for students and the Amsterdam News readership at large to learn more about black history and culture throughout the school, calendar year
Thanks to our generous sponsors, this program allows us to deliver copies of the New York Amsterdam News throughout the school year to educators who request them for their classrooms, at no cost.
While students and educators can use the entire newspaper as an informative learning tool, Amsterdam News in the Classroom also produces a page in the paper specially for them to use in the classroom. This page highlights the important people, places and events that make up the rich history of people of African descent. The lessons also include reading, writing and discussion assignments, as well as a look at key black history events for the week.
For more information about Amsterdam News in the Classroom, or to request copies for your school, contact Jasmin K. Williams at (212) 932-7418 or by email at email@example.com. You must be an educator or school principal to request copies.
