Last week, New York City office cleaners ratified a four-year agreement with the Realty Advisory Board (RAB), which provides them with a 5.6 percent wage increase over the life of the contract, includes bonuses totaling $1,100 and keeps full employer-paid family health care coverage.

“This is a fair agreement with modest wage increases that will help the 22,000 building cleaners remain a part of the city’s middle class,” said 32BJ SEIU President Mike Fishman. “This contract will help workers support their families and contribute to the growth of the economy.” The contract expires in 2015.

As part of the deal, a joint project will also be established between 32BJ and the real estate industry to help promote economic development and good jobs. The project will be run under the direction of both union and industry representatives and will explore ways for the union and the industry to work together and advance the efforts of both groups.
