Diverse teens wanted for YouthBridge-NY fellowship

YouthBridge-NY is recruiting diverse teens who will be starting their junior year of high school in fall 2012 to join a select group of student leaders who want to become agents for change in their school or community and learn about issues affecting New York City.

YouthBridge-NY is seeking teens for a two-year fellowship beginning August 2012. Selected diverse student leaders will come together to solve diversity and community-based issues in New York City by participating in monthly skill-building workshops and social action committees. They will have unique opportunities to meet leaders from business, government and the community. The application deadline is Friday, March 30.

New York City students who are interested in diversity and standing up for issues affecting their city will be given the opportunity to develop leadership skills, meet with influential city leaders and become agents of change in their schools and communities. Teens will learn about conflict mediation, the state of immigration in New York City, diversity issues, how to network with peers and professionals, public speaking skills, social media and more.

Founded in 2001, YouthBridge-NY is a nonprofit organization that trains New York City teens to master the skills needed to be the next generation of leaders in diversity.

New York City is now home to more than 180 different languages and ethnic groups; with such a diverse crowd, disagreements and conflicts are inevitable. YouthBridge-NY is paving the way for our future generation of leaders to be ready and able to handle any conflicts that may arise. YouthBridge-NY brings together diverse high school juniors and seniors and empowers them to work together to have a meaningful impact on their schools and communities.
