The Iridium Jazz Club in the heart of Manhattan on 51st Street (1650 Broadway) will feature hard-hitting jazz fusionist guitarist Mike Stern with Victor Wooten, Dave Wecki and Bob Malach. The second set at 10:30 p.m. has tickets for $65 for mezzanine seating with $20 minimum, and $125 for VIP seating and a three-course dinner. Mike Stern got his start with the hot 1960s group Blood, Sweat & Tears. On the Upper West Side (2751 Broadway at 105th Street) at Smoke Jazz and Supper Club-Lounge, swing with Miles Davis alumnus George Coleman Quartet with pianist Harold Mabern, bassist John Webber and drummer Joe Farnsworth. The first set at 7 p.m. is priced at $118 (including gratuity) for bar seating and tables are $151.04, which includes a three-course dinner plus beer and wine open bar. The second set at 9:45 p.m. is $230 at the bar and $269.40 for table seating, which includes two sets, a three-course dinner, beer and wine open bar and champagne toast at midnight. This is the most expensive on my list. Definitely for the high spenders who want to end the year on a high note. For more information and reservations call 212 864-6662.
