Fresh on the heels of the first leg of the newly launched Apollo Uptown Hall series, “Vote Like Your Life Depends On It,” the Apollo will present “The Presidential Debate Viewing Party” on Tuesday, Oct. 16, at 7:30 p.m.

This event will feature the second presidential debate between incumbent President Barack Obama and his republican challenger, Mitt Romney. Prior to the screening of the debate, there will be a panel discussion featuring a host of respected political analysts who will discuss the issues that are most important to our community. The discussion and analysis will be followed by an audience Q&A.

The esteemed panel includes Esther Armah (WBAI-FM), Herb Boyd (New York Amsterdam News), Michael Brendan Dougherty (the American Conservative), Mark Riley (WWRL 1600 AM), William Tucker (American Spectator magazine) and Armstrong Williams (SiriusXM’s “The Power”). The panel will be moderated by Christina Greer, a political science assistant professor at Fordham University. Following the panel discussion, Shannon LaNier (Black Enterprise Business Report) will lead the Q&A session, inviting the audience to participate in the dialogue.

The event will kick off with a performance by soul jazz violinist-vocalist Charisa the Violin Diva and will feature music provided by RhythmAndSoulRadio.com’s DJ, the legendary Chris Washington.

The pre-debate panel and Q&A is from 7:30-9 p.m., with the debate screening immediately following. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

The event is free of charge and open to the public. To register, visit www.apollotheater.org/uptown-hall-debate-rsvp and enter the information requested. You must print out and present your confirmation upon arrival.
