The list of honorees for the 19th annual Caribbean American Heritage Awards Gala just got a slightly longer. The new additions include Anya Ayong-Chee, the winner of the 9th season of Project Runway and the longest serving Miss Trinidad & Tobago (2008), and Bunny Ruggs, the popular independent reggae star and lead singer for the ‘Third World’ reggae band from the 1970’s
The two have been added to a list of seven stars who will be honored for their contributions to Caribbean American. The other honorees include:
- Constance White, editor in chief of Essence Magazine
- Monty Alexander, a famous jazz musician
- Colin Channer, highly praised author and assistant professor of English at Medgar Evers College
- Dean Garfield, president and CEO of the Information Technology Industry Council a source of power of advocacy and influence for the IT community
- Robert Greenidge, a steel drumer
- Shaka Hislop, a former soccer player and ESPN analyst on Soccernet Press
- Andy Ingraham, president and chief executive officer of the National Association of Black Hotel Owners, Operators & Developers, Inc.
