Basketball Hall of Fame 2012 induction ceremony is set

The New York City Basketball Hall of Fame will induct their 23rd Hall of Fame class on Thursday, Sept. 20, at the New York Athletic Club, located at 59th Street and Central Park South.
Set for induction are veteran NBA player Ricky Sobers and Ray Felix of LIU, the Knicks, Baltimore, Minneapolis, Minnesota and the Lakers.
Also from the players' ranks is Connie Simmons, another former Knick who later was off to Baltimore, Syracuse and Rochester. Charley Yelverton, among the all-time greats at Fordham University, logged a number of years in the NBA with Phoenix and teams in Spain and Italy, among others.
In the old-timers category are Donald Goldstein and longtime New York City high school coach Charles "Chuck" Granby, who was voted in by the NYC Basketball Hall of Fame Selection Committee as the entering coach for the 2012 class. Jack Kaiser, the longtime coach at St. John's and director of athletics, was selected as a "Contributor to the Game." Also voted in as a contributor to the game is longtime NBA referee Dick Bavetta.
