NOV. 6, VOTE! YOUR FUTURE DEPENDS ON IT!

Election Day, november 6, 2012, is a defining moment for all americans but most importantly, for those of uscwho are struggling to make ends meet.

The priorities we set and the actions we take now will determine whether or not we have national, state and local elected officials committed to protecting programs and policies that will protect us, our families and our communities - public housing, public schools, health care, daycare, Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, an education that provides us with a path to a better life and policies that provide millions with a path to citizenship, and more.

That is why Dc 37's top priority is re-electing President Barack Obama. He is the best choice -- the only choice -- to uplift working families. i'll give you one quick example.

Last year, presidential candidate Mitt Romney went to ohio to support Gov. John Kasich's union-busting law. He volunteered at a phone bank and said he was "110 percent" behind Senate Bill 5, the legislation to strip public service workers of their bargaining rights. contrast that with President Barack Obama who said, "let's certainly not blame public employees for a financial crisis that they had nothing to do with, and let's not use this as an excuse to erode their bargaining rights."

Is there any wonder hundreds of Dc 37 members are volunteering to get out the vote on election Day? Folks i lovingly refer to as our Green Machine will fan out throughout the five boroughs wearing their union t-shirts and hats, handing out fliers at transit hubs, staffing phone banks and more to help get out the vote for President Obama and other candidates who stand with us.

We will remind fellow new yorkers how the Romney-Ryan policies hurt the poor and help the wealthy, threaten Medicare and Social Security, increase the deficit and cost our economy millions of jobs, doing particular damage to the services we provide to you. not only do we live and work in the communities we serve but our communities rely on the work we do and our jobs are devoted to creating a better life for average new yorkers.

Vote, November 6

We will remind voters of the significant accomplishments that led Dc37 and our international union, aFScMe, to endorse President Barack Obama for re-election in november. Since taking office four years ago, President Obama has passed health care reform that will cover 32 million uninsured americans beginning in 2014, ended the war in iraq, passed the american Recovery and Reinvestment act that helped create 3.7 million new jobs, extended unemployment insurance, cut payroll taxes, passed Wall Street reform, kicked banks out of the federal student loan program, made for-profit colleges more accountable, expanded the number of Pell Grants for lower-income students, turned the auto industry around, and much, much more.

In addition, President Obama is committed to sustaining Social Security "without putting at risk current retirees...or people with disabilities; without slashing benefits for future generations" and without privatization. His affordable care act added new Medicare benefits and years of solvency.

While the billionaires bankrolling Mitt Romney's campaign have always known he's on their side, thanks to a recently released video tape, we now know that he doesn't even care about the rest of us.

President Obama does care. not only has he proposed to congress a 2014 budget that will create jobs, even increasing investments in job training, infrastructure and manufacturing but he is also proposing tax policies that will bring relief to working families. He is also committed to putting the american Dream within reach of millions of young men and women who've come here in pursuit of a better life by making it possible for undocumented youth brought here as children, to avoid deportation, work legally and continue developing their talents and academic skills.

While President Barack Obama has done a lot, there's still a lot more to do. With our vote, he'll get the four more years he needs. on election Day, november 6, we MUSt vote like our future depended on it. Why? Because, it does.
