First Lady to release … a hip-hop album?

Usher and ex-wife Tameka Foster Raymond were at odds even before last week’s custody battle over their two kids. Earlier this month, Usher filed legal documents asking a judge to decrease his child support payments to Raymond. The singer had been paying $8,000 a month for their two sons, and he says that the amount was set in an old agreement and hasn’t been adjusted since he was given primary custody last year. A date has yet to be set for the hearing.
Los Angeles Clippers forward Matt Barnes and his wife, VH1’s “Basketball Wives LA” star Gloria Govan, got married in Las Vegas last September after previously canceling their wedding a few years ago. On Aug. 12, at the Bacara Resort and Spa in Santa Barbara, Calif., the parents of twin sons finally had their dream wedding ceremony. The nuptials were attended by Barnes’ teammates Blake Griffin, DeAndre Jordan, Ryan Hollins and Willie Green, plus former teammate Ryan Gomes, whose wife was a bridesmaid, and former NBA players Gilbert Arenas and Chris Webber and more. The wedding party walked down the aisle to Robin Thicke’s “Lost Without You” and the bride glided down to Tupac’s “All Eyes On Me.”
In an effort to raise awareness and end childhood obesity, Michelle Obama will release a hip-hop album centered around the cause. Called “Songs for a Healthier America,” the album will promote the first lady’s “Let’s Move” campaign, which works to fight childhood obesity. Ten music videos will also be released following the album. The videos are set to be distributed to 40 schools in the New York City area prior to being circulated in other major cities.
It’s raining babies. Newlyweds Mellody Hobson and George Lucas had a daughter, Everest Hobson Lucas, via a surrogate on Aug. 9. This is the first biological child for both of them. Lucas has three adopted children. May the force be with them.
Meanwhile, “Extra” correspondent A.J. Calloway and his wife, Dionne, also welcomed a baby girl into the world on Aug. 12.
After suffering a non-epileptic seizure at the recording studio on Aug. 9, Chris Brown was spotted on the basketball court smiling and having a fun time over the weekend as he took part in the Los Angeles Unity Games at Locke High School. His team Symphonic Love Foundation Squad played against the LAPD in a friendly game to promote unity in L.A. as well as gang intervention.
