Ring in the New Year with a cast of 20-25 men in dance as part of "From the Horse's Mouth," a production featuring choreographers of all ages and dance traditions who will "tell personal stories from their lives, then perform movement of their own choosing, sometimes interacting with another dancer." Featured artists this year include Gus Solomons Jr., Arthur Mitchell, Arthur Aviles, Miguel Anaya, Jason Samuels Smith, Cartier Williams and so many more. "From the Horse's Mouth" was conceived by Tina Croll and Jamie Cunningham in 1998. Performances will run from Jan. 10-12 at the Theater at the 14th Street Y. This is a must-see event. New York is not the same in January without the annual conference of the Association of Performing Arts Presenters (APAP). This year, APAP will showcase more than 1,000 live performances for five days. Included on this massive roster of performers are Kyle Abraham (Jan. 11-12) and Souleymane Badolo (Jan. 12) as part of New Live Arts' "Live Artery" series.
