Now in its fifth decade of “Arts-for-Peace” programming, the TIPA Project (Toward International Peace through the Arts) will hold a free, open-to-the-public event celebrating the birthday of Martin Luther King Jr., with readings of speeches by people such as King, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson, Cady Stanton and Barack Obama as well as readings of the poetry of Walt Whitman on the themes of democracy, freedom and civil and human rights. Readers will include Broadway star David Strathairn, Tony Award winners Fritz Weaver and Judy Kaye, and Kerry Dunlap, Pat Lavin, Jordan L. Westra and Stanley Tannen.
