From Broadway to Harlem, BBraxton’s salon is in full swing! For skin and hair care, this top shop gives men the star treatment! When it comes to grooming, men have come a long way with feeling comfortable in a grooming salon. It seems like men have always enjoyed a steam room at their gyms, especially after a vigorous workout. Dad used to always looked forward to his visits to the barber shop, where he often met his friends and enjoyed a laugh or two. He would always smell so nice when he came home. You could tell that he felt good too. Located on the street level at 1400 Fifth Ave. (off the corner of West 116 Street), BBraxton’s salon offers “exceptional grooming for exceptional men.” The shop is dedicated to attending to a man’s needs when it comes to his hair, nails, feet, hair and skin. They recently signed on to be the official groomer for the men in the cast of the Broadway hit “Motown: The Musical.” When you walk into BBraxton, you can relax immediately.

When you walk or drive by the location on W. 116th St., you may think that it doesn’t look like a spot that’s just for men. However, it’s the only luxurious, full-service grooming parlor in Harlem.

In 2006, Brenda Braxton launched BBraxton Exceptional Grooming for Exceptional Men. Her goal was to service the astute gentlemen in the neighborhood. The establishment continues to evolve while maintaining its elegant charm. Men can even make an appointment at BBraxton for a professional to visit them at their office or home. The salon is serviced by licensed and skilled men and women.

BBraxton’s services includes a barber shop and spa that offers hot towel treatments, straight-razor shaves, haircuts and styling, reflexology, massages and skin care. With the salon’s state-of-the-art audio systems and flat-screen panels, patrons can catch the latest news while they are having their hands and feet addressed. Gentlemen may sample and stock up on grooming products by the Art of Shaving line, which is exclusively sold at Bbraxton. She is looking forward to launching BBraxton in Atlanta by summer 2014.

Braxton is actually a Broadway star. She has played Velma Kelly in the hit musical “Chicago.” Prior to that, she was featured in Broadway’s “Smokey Joe’s Café.” Her performance won her a 1995 Tony Award nomination, the NAACP Theatre Award, the city of Chicago’s Jefferson Award and a Grammy Award for Best Cast Album. In 2009, Braxton received the Men of Style Award, given by Gillette Fuzion. She is currently performing in “Cougar The Musical” at St. Luke Theatre (308 W. 40th St.) on Fridays at 8 p.m. and Saturdays at 2 p.m. Braxton is also the founder of Leading Ladies Just For Teens (LLJFT), a not-for-profit organization that holds seminars geared toward empowering young girls to be the best they can be. LLJFT began in 1996 at the Virginia Theatre with a series of seminars designed to encourage, challenge and inspire young ladies to dream and set goals.

BBraxon’s salon hours are Tuesday to Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Stop in and let Braxton know you read about the salon in the NY Amsterdam News!
