Harlem barbershop giving men free cut for Father's Day.

Adam Clayton Powell State Office Building Plaza in Harlem will be transformed into a pop-up barbershop to get men spruced up for Father's Day.

In honor of Father's Day and Men's Health Month, Affinity Health Plan and several health partners, including the Acacia Network, Citicare and MedAlliance, have teamed up to encourage men to get lifesaving health screenings for free, and there is a reward for men who do: a free shape-up!

Affinity Health Plan's fourth annual "Get Screened, Get Clean" event will take place on Thursday, June 13 from 12 p.m.-5 p.m. at the Adam Clayton Powell State Office Building at 163 W. 125th St. in Harlem. There will be free screenings for blood pressure, diabetes, dental, nutrition, cholesterol, HIV and many more. The Adam Clayton Powell State Office Building Plaza in Harlem will be transformed into a pop-up barbershop for one day, and every man who receives health screenings will get groomed and styled by a barber. Women are encouraged to bring any significant man in their life to this event. For ladies who participate, there will be a free massage.

"This is an annual event we started four years ago to encourage men in our community to proactively take care of their health," says Denise Rogers, Affinity's director of community relations. "We are hoping that women will get involved too by making sure that the men in their lives come out to get screened."
