Gov. Andrew Cuomo's approval rating rose to 64 percent after recent declines among registered voters in New York, according to a new Siena College Research Institute poll released on May 20. In April, the governor's approval rating was 62 percent. The poll also found 52 percent of voters think Cuomo is doing a good or excellent job and 55 percent said they would re-elect the governor.
Sixty-three percent of voters said the governor is doing all he can to prevent corruption in government when asked about the state government's recent corruption woes. However, 67 percent of voters said New York government is "more dysfunctional every day." Only 26 percent believe state government is working "effectively." The poll surveyed 623 voters by phone between May 13-16.
