Students from the Touro College of Pharmacy recently presented results of their research at the midyear clinical meeting of the American Society of Health-system Pharmacists (ASHP) in Las Vegas. Seventeen students participated in the presentations, which covered topics such as the importance of the pharmacist's role in medication for menopause, off-label use of a drug and a state pharmacy organization's use of a website and social media. Pictured are the pharmacy students attending the conference and their faculty mentors at a reception sponsored by the seven schools of pharmacy in New York and the New York State Council of Health-system Pharmacists (NYSCHP). Both the ASHP and the NYSCHP are leading professional associations that represent pharmacists who practice in a variety of settings. Touro College of Pharmacy opened in Harlem in September 2008. The college offers increased educational opportunities--especially in Harlem--through programs in pharmacy education, research and scholarship, and through services to the community and the profession.
