According to Us Weekly, Beyonce was the second to last celebrity after Madonna to grace the red carpet at the Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 6 in the Big Apple. Taking a break from her Mrs. Carter Show World Tour, the honorary co-chair for the 2013 ball made a memorable entrance with a custom skirt by Givenchy Haute Couture by Riccardo Tisci, a mile-long skirt in black Cady printed with flame motifs and embroidered with flame cutouts. Bey paired the skirt with matching thigh-high boots of the same fabric. She told the mag: "It's all about the boots."
A private jet carrying Chris Brown was forced to make an emergency landing in Burbank, Calif., on May 6 after the cockpit filled with smoke after takeoff. Brown boarded a Gulfstream III jet in Burbank and was headed for Teterboro, N.J., so he could attend the Costume Institute Gala. Sources tell TMZ that roughly seven to eight minutes into the flight, everyone on board began to notice smoke filling the plane. A source said: "It was a lot of smoke ... everywhere!" The pilot immediately turned the plane around and performed an emergency landing back at Burbank Airport. After the plane touched down, Brown decided he still wanted to attend the gala in New York and boarded another private plane. He eventually made it to the Big Apple, but not in time for the gala. However, he did make it to the after-party.
