Churches gifting the community

“Obamacare: An Information Session and Presentation on the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act” will be held on Thursday, Nov. 14 at the Teen Challenge Center (444 Clinton Ave., between Gates and Greene avenues) from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. The sponsors are community activist Olanike Alabi, HealthFirst and the 57th A.D. Democratic Organization.
NYPD and Community Day
There will be a NYPD and Community Day on Nov. 17 at 11 a.m. at Brooklyn Community Church (BCC) at P.S. 67, located at 51 St. Edwards St., between Myrtle and Park avenues. The guest speaker will be NYPD Chief Philip Banks III. The event will be sponsored by the Rev. Dr. Fred Lucas and the BCC. The honorees are Banks, Deputy Inspector Scott Henderson (88th Precinct) and active and retired police officers of the BCC.
Second Good Neighbors meeting
There will be a second Good Neighbors meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 19 at 7 p.m. at the Church of St. Luke and St. Matthew, located at 520 Clinton Ave., Brooklyn. The topics of discussion include updates since their first meeting in September; becoming a member, volunteer or donor; membership benefits; networking; wellness options; at-home help; neighborhood discounts and more.
First Baptist Church of Crown Heights to feed 2,500 families for Thanksgiving
The First Baptist Church of Crown Heights will be feeding 2,500 families for the Thanksgiving holiday. Four days worth of food will be provided to those who qualify. The giving will begin on Tuesday, Nov. 26. The First Baptist Church of Crown Heights is located at 450 Eastern Parkway at Rogers Avenue, Brooklyn.
