9/12/2013, 4:38 p.m.
Harlem’s First Corinthian Baptist Church (FCBC), located at 1912 Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Blvd., will hold its 2013 Bridal Affair on Saturday, Sept. 14, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The community-focused event welcomes local vendors and small business owners that offer wedding-related services to showcase their offerings at FCBC.
All couples who are engaged or who are considering tying the knot are welcome to come and enjoy this event as we celebrate “Love in Harlem.” This year, FCBC’s Bridal Affair will offer attendees a host of opportunities to attend workshops and visit with a select group of vendors. As a special feature, the Rev. Dr. LaKeesha Walrond, executive pastor of FCBC, will lead an informal discussion on the sacred union of marriage.
The 2013 Bridal Affair will feature the following workshops: “The Dos and Don’ts of Wedding Planning,” “Have the Wedding of Your Dreams Within Your Means” and “Love Stages: Why Couples Should Consider Marriage and the Transitions That Take Place Afterward.”
A host of vendors will also be on-hand to answer questions and showcase their products and services to couples.
The FCBC was first organized in 1933. Since 2004, Michael A. Walrond Jr. has served as lead pastor. Under Michael Walrond’s dynamic leadership, FCBC successfully executed a $500,000 vision campaign that restored and renewed the church through various stages of interior reconstruction. In addition to the physical improvements of the building, Michael Walrond, along with his wife and partner in ministry, LaKeesha Walrond, the membership of FCBC has grown from 350 members to 7,000 members. FCBC is dedicated to upholding its purpose statement, which states as follows: “We are an ever evolving community of visionaries and dreamers who have been called by God to live the lives we were created to live; commanded by God to love beyond the limits of our prejudices and commissioned by God to serve.”
