Murder rate lower in NYC

New York City had fewer murders than Chicago in 2012, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. In 2011, Chicago reported 431 murders, and in 2012, the rate jumped to 500. But in 2011, New York City had 515 murders. In 2012, the homicide rate was 419. The Federal Bureau of Investigation reported that in 2012, 15 cities reported more than 100 murders.
