It has been announced that a new Michael Jackson album will be released on May 15. L.A. Reid of Epic Records, along with Michael Jackson’s estate, collaborated on producing the record after Reid was allowed to scour Jackson’s personal catalogs of music.
Epic Records stated, “After mining the estate of Jackson’s archives, L.A. Reid was granted unlimited access to the treasures spanning four decades of material on which Jackson had completed his vocals. Reid then teamed up top producers to ‘contemporize’ the songs while retaining Jackson’s essence and integrity, creating the best music you’ve never heard. The list of producers include global hit makers Timbaland, Rodney Jerkins, Stargate and John McClain.”
This new eight-track album, titled “Xscape,” will feature completely unreleased music. Billboard reports that Reid, the CEO of Epic Records, worked on each track.
In a statement, Reid said, “Michael left behind some musical performances that we take great pride in presenting through the vision of music producers that he either worked directly with or expressed a strong desire to work with. We are extremely proud and honored to present this music to the world.”
This posthumous album will be an amazing addition to anyone’s music collection. It is always wonderful to see new material emerge from artists who are greatly missed. As it is the product of the“King of Pop” and one of the most successful and electrifying musicians on the planet, this new album is slated to do very well on the charts. Past and present generations will receive a taste of the magic Jackson held within him for over 30 years.
The album will be available for pre-order on April 1 through iTunes and will include a deluxe edition that will share the album’s tracks in their original form and sound.
