‘Atlanta Housewife’ Kandi ties the knot

“Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker tied the knot in a “Coming to America”-themed ceremony on April 4 at Le Fais Do-Do in Atlanta. Not only did Mama Joyce walk Burruss down the aisle, but she also gave a moving toast to the newlyweds.
Burruss’ bridesmaids included Fantasia Barrino, Tamera Wynn, Rasheeda and Tameka “Tiny” Harris. The newlyweds’ celebrity guests included Porsha Stewart, Phaedra Parks and Apollo Nida, Cynthia Bailey and Peter Thomas, Sheree Whitfield, Sherri Shepherd, Jawn Murray, Musiq Soulchild, Monica Brown, Tamar Braxton and Vince Herbert and Keshia Knight Pulliam.
Speaking of housewives, on April 7, Bravo renewed “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” for a seventh season. The show is set to return this fall. Two spinoffs were announced as well, and a third season of Kim Zolciak’s “Don’t Be Tardy” will return this fall. Also, Bravo will be airing a short-term series about Burruss’ aforementioned nuptials. Meanwhile, “Blood, Sweat and Heels,” which Geneva S. Thomas is a part of, was renewed for a second season.
Saul Williams, Christopher Jackson, Saycon Sengblok, Ben Thompson, John Earl Jelks and others, including Tony Award winner Tonya Pinkins, will star in “Holler If Ya Hear Me,” the new Broadway musical inspired by the lyrics of Tupac Shakur. Written by Todd Kreidler and directed by Kenny Leon, “Holler If Ya Hear Me” will begin performances on May 29 and open June 19 at the Palace Theatre in New York City.
According to reports, Chris Brown’s assault case in Washington, D.C., will move forward after a judge on April 7 denied a request to toss it. Brown’s trial will not begin until after his bodyguard Christopher Hollosy begins his trial on April 17. Neither Brown nor Hollosy were present in court on April 7. A spokesman for the U.S. Marshals service, which had been transporting Brown to the area for his trial, confirmed that he is being held at a facility in the Washington area.
Denzel Washington attended his “A Raisin in the Sun” Broadway opening night party on April 3 at Tribeca Rooftop in the Big Apple. Other chicsters in the house included his fabulous co-stars LaTanya Richardson Jackson, along with her husband, Samuel L. Jackson, Anika Noni Rose, Sophie Okonedo and television personality and the wife of Al Roker, Deborah Roberts.
