Comedian Robin Williams died Aug. 11. San Rafael, Calif., Sheriff’s Lieutenant Keith Boyd said that Williams was found suspended with a belt around his neck. He was clothed and rigor mortis had set in. Police said the actor was found by his assistant in a seated position.

I had the pleasure of interviewing Williams many times over the years, seeing him live on Broadway with Steve Martin in “Waiting for Godot,” as well as just being in his company. My favorite memory of him is at a Friars Club Roast for Whoopi Goldberg in New York in 1994. Along with celebrities who included Montel Williams, Beverly Johnson, Vanessa Williams, Michael Spinks and Sugar Ray Leonard, Robin sat on the dais.

Ted Danson, who Goldberg was dating at the time, was the MC and he wore blackface. He yelled the N-word over and over and told racist jokes like, “Black chicks really know their way around a d—k. That’s because they don’t get toys for Christmas.” Goldberg later told me she wrote that joke. Anyway, Williams walked off the dais. I started booing from the audience, and Williams stood up, looked at Danson and said, “You have a whole lot of nerve wearing that blackface and yelling the N-word with Spinks and Sugar Ray at the other end of the table. In fact, we ought to take your a— up to Harlem in that blackface, drop you off and tell you: ‘Walk back downtown, motherbleeper,” Needless to say, Goldberg and Danson broke up a few days after that!

My dear Robin Williams. Rest in peace.

President Barack Obama began his two-week vacation on Martha’s Vineyard with a golf game at Farm Neck Golf Club in Oak Bluffs, with former NFL great Ahmad Rashad, NBA player Ray Allen and Cyrus Walker, the cousin of Senior Advisor Valerie Jarrett.

Rashad, who was formerly married to Phylicia Rashad and recently divorced socialite Sale Johnson, whose first husband, Woody Johnson, owns the New York Jets, has been dating Jarrett for a while. In fact, the coosome twosome were spotted the day after the golf game working out together at B-Strong gym, which is owned by an African-American guy, also in the town of Oak Bluffs.

The seventh season of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” is guaranteed to be more explosive than ever. Sources say the show will be testing out Demetria McKinney, who played crack addict Janine in “Tyler Perry’s House of Payne” and former “Price is Right” girl Claudia Jordan. All of last season’s cast members will be returning amid rumors that Phaedra Parks’ filming will be a lot less because of her dealing with the incarceration of her husband, Apollo Nida.

The soon-to-be Mrs. Dwyane Wade, Gabrielle Union, has adopted a summer meal plan during the filming of her hit show “Being Mary Jane.” Union has been eating a vegan diet five days a week to maintain a diet that helps her beauty and health without drastic changes. She can still enjoy a bacon cheeseburger, but only on her off days.

Recently confirmed to portray “Iron Mike” Tyson in his new biopic, Academy Award winner Jamie Foxx was spotted dining at Tao Downtown in New York City.
