SPRINGFIELD, ILL.

Then it was on to Springfield, Ill., where our 16th president had an immense impact on every asset of the landscape, and where his life and legacy are still alive and well.

The piès de résistance of the Lincoln experience here is undoubtedly the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library & Museum, coupled with the Looking for Lincoln Story Trail, Springfield and Central Illinois African American History Museum, and the self-guided, eight-marker tour of the various sites tied to the 1908 Race Riot, among many, many other outstanding sites and attractions.
