Land Skin Care and Land Yoga, located at 2116 Frederick Douglas Blvd. between 114th and W. 115th streets, are two separate beauty businesses in one spot. Seven Brown, owner of and skin care and beauty specialist at Land Skin Care, operates under her brand motto, “Skin is the Truth.” Lara Land, owner of and instructor at Land Yoga, is intrigued by the body-mind connection. Both companies offer private lessons by appointment.
This winter, coping with your skin can be easy and inexpensive. Skin care should begin at a young age, especially if you want beautiful skin as you age gracefully. At Land Skin Care, your first visit includes a 45-60 minute analysis that costs $40. Brown will ask about your medical history and whether you are on any medications, and then she will recommend a skin care treatment plan for you.
To protect your skin, drink water and use a moisturizer with sunscreen. Even though it’s winter, the sun can still damage your skin. Maintenance is a key factor in skin care. Before sleeping, wash and cleanse your face of makeup.
Brown focuses on hyperpigmentation, dark spots, acne, aging, facials and Brazilian waxes ($25-$30). At home, some of the items in your refrigerator—like egg whites and yogurt—are good for facials.
Beauty innovator Brown stepped into the world of fashion and beauty 15 years ago as a manager for top photographers, makeup artists and stylists. Brown has served as the resident skin care consultant for the Sam Fine Beauty Tour, sponsored by Sephora. She has also spoken at major conferences, such as the 2010 Cosmetology Educators of America Annual Convention in Orlando, Fla.
Brown is highly qualified to take care of your skin. As a global beauty educator and product development and treatment protocol consultant for major beauty companies and institutions, Brown currently contributes her beauty knowledge as a consultant to international clients opening esthetic schools and pioneering licensing programs.
Prior to this, she worked as lead advanced educator at the Atelier Esthétique Institute of Esthetics for five years, where she created, taught and managed all of the post-graduate curricula, including the first-ever comprehensive Paramedical Esthetics and International ITEC Certification.
She is also the beauty and grooming director for the digital lifestyle publication Bleu magazine and the resident beauty expert for the popular beauty blog Hello Beautiful. Additionally, Brown hosts SevB-TV, a beauty and fashion video blog on YouTube that complements her Hello Beautiful editorials.
Brown holds New York state licenses for esthetics and esthetics teaching, as well as the prestigious beauty specialist and electric facialist diplomas from the International Therapeutic Examination Council of London, which allows her licensure in 38 countries worldwide.
Land opened Land Yoga in Harlem in June 2011. Her studio services people of all ages and abilities.
