Avonte's father, Daniel Oquendo

Daniel Oquendo, the father of formerly missing teen Avonte Oquendo, is planning to have a memorial at the site where his son's remains were found in Queens.

The remains of Avonte, missing since Oct. 4, 2013 when he ran out of his Long Island City, Queens school, were discovered in January by a teen in College Point, Queens.

According to correspondence the AmNews has had with the elder Oquendo, he wants an opportunity to thank those who volunteered their time to help look for Avonte. Oquendo would also like to pray over the spot where Avonte's body was found.

Oquendo will be meeting anyone interested in attending at 5 p.m. at 122-16 A Powell Cove Blvd. (between Endeavor Place and Weatherly Place); College Point, Queens 11356.
