Former ANTM contestant Yaya DaCosta will star as Whitney Houston in the Lifetime biopic "I Will Always Love You: The Whitney Houston Story." Actress and long-time friend of Houston, Angela Bassett, is set to direct the film.
The biopic surrounds the much controversial relationship between Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown. Houston and Brown met in the late eighties and got married in 1992. Their daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown was born the following year.
The duo was known for their drug use and run-ins with the law. By 2007, Houston filed for divorce.
Singer Whitney Houston was one of the biggest singers of the eighties and nineties. She achieved success with her first single "You Give Good Love," but her 1992 song " I Will Always Love You." stayed on the Billboard Charts for 14 weeks and became her signature.
Her life was cut short in 2012 when she died from an accidental drowning. Coroners found cocaine in her system.
Yaya DaCosta first made it big as the runner-up on reality-show America's Next Top Model. She continued with her modeling career and went on to pursue acting. Some of the movies she has been featured in include "Take the Lead," "Tron: Legacy," and "The Butler."
The movie is set to come out in 2015.
