The Stop Mass Incarceration Network

The Stop Mass Incarceration Network is having a meeting today at 7 p.m. Monday June 16 at Riverside Church in Harlem [located on 120th and Claremont Avenue]. The network will discuss recent events relating to an NYPD assault that occurred on June 4th in West Harlem.

Police entered two housing projects and and private apartments buildings in West Harlem in the morning of June 4th in what appeared to be a raid. Residents have begun to claim that the way they were treated was discriminatory, several young men between the ages of 15 and 30 were arrested and are facing bail or jail time.

The network plans to update people with the recent events that have occurred since that incident and will team up with a legal defense team to organize against what they consider mass incarceration.

Their larger plan is to create a Month of Resistance to "mass incarceration, police terror, repression and the criminalization of a generation in October."
