Spotlight on Sisters in Cinema at MoCada

New Voices in Black Cinema focused the spotlight on Black females in film this Women’s History Month. New Voices, with the Act Now Foundation are hosting their 4th annual Black Cinema Festival a 3-day long panel from March 27-30 at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, BAM.

"Spotlight on Sisters in Cinema: Making Noise and Getting Heard" took place on March 27 at the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts, MoCada, in Brooklyn.

The panel included Neema Barnette, Nicole Franklin, Stacey Muhammad, Nikyatu Jusu and Emelyn Stuart - Black female directors who discussed their struggles, techniques and triumphs in the film industry trying to get their voices heard. They also discussed their films from a wide array of genres; drama, comedy, science fiction and animations.
