Lido cocktails

Thank goodness the spring weather is settling in, because we needed to get out of the house. We needed to crawl the streets, spend time with friends, eat, drink and see how Harlem is getting down with the get down! And there was no shortage on things to do over the last couple of weeks … lest there be a riot on the avenue.

Earlier this month, the third annual Food & Drink Boulevard took over Frederick Douglas Boulevard again. Nearly 1,000 hungry and thirsty patrons crawled the boulevard with friends in tow to partake in food and drink specials at some of the tried and true—as well as the tried and new—places and spaces.

Together with my right-hand man, we started our crawl at Lido (@LidoHarlemNYC). They were managing their flow by having an outside bar to get a quick cocktail and order a couple of bites. The slight chill of the night didn’t prevent us from warming up over some sangria, polenta fries and meatball sliders. It was easy to make friends and map out the next locale

After trying a couple more places that were packed with revelers, our second stop was Bier International (@BierInt). We were most excited, as they had the biggest menu of beer and food specials to try. I had Jever because me loves a pilsner. He had the Hofbrau because it was just good beer (and there was no IPA on special). We had to give in to spicy fried buffalo wings too!

Our final stop was to one of our favorite restaurants, Vinateria (@VinateriaNYC). They were featuring their awesome croquettes (from our New Year’s Eve bacchanal feast) and short ribs over crispy polenta. We might have gotten the last plates at exactly 10 p.m., and it was well worth it with their unique pamplemousse cocktail. Yes, I said pamplemousse! Go over there and find out what it is for yourself.

Hello! Harlem is not playing, and it’s only May! Let’s go!

Happy eating and thanks for reading!
