Dr. Steve Perry has a plan to establish the Capital Preparatory Harlem Charter School. He recently began the process of filing a charter application.
Perry is currently the principal of the highly successful Capital Preparatory Magnet School in Hartford, Conn. The Capital Preparatory Magnet School is a year-round school that serves pre-K through 12th grade.
The Capital Preparatory Harlem Charter School will provide historically disadvantaged students from Harlem with the college and career readiness skills needed to become responsible and engaged citizens for social justice. Capital Prep Harlem will accomplish this goal by providing students with a rigorous, year-round college-preparatory curriculum in a nurturing and loving environment that fosters strong student-teacher relationships.
Perry is actively recruiting students with special needs by working with community-based organizations and public agencies that serve students with special needs. Perry is an education contributor for CNN and MSNBC, an Essence magazine columnist, a best-selling author and host of the No. 1 docudrama on TV ONE, “Save My Son.”
