NBLCA receives award from NYS Department of Health

On World AIDS Day, the National Black Leadership Commission on AIDS received the 2015 Commissioner’s Special Recognition Award.

On World AIDS Day, the National Black Leadership Commission on AIDS, received the 2015 Commissioner’s Special Recognition Award from the New York State Department of Health for its ongoing commitment to ending the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the state.

C. Virginia Fields, president and CEO of NBLCA, accepted the award from Dr. Howard Zucker, commissioner of health, in a ceremony held at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center in Albany, New York

Special Recognition Awards were given to NBLCA and other awardees across New York for their contributions to improving and promoting the health and well-being of state residents.

Fields has been the president and CEO of the NBLCA since 2008. She was appointed to the New York State AIDS Advisory Council by then-Gov. David A. Paterson in 2008. In 2014 she was appointed to New York State’s Ending the Epidemic Task Force.
