“Whether I am designing for a mother or daughter, the look is glamorous,” said popular designer b Michael after his amazing fall-winter 2015 show at the Celeste Bartos Forum last Wednesday night for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. His shows are always grand, and his clothes are haute couture.
In the star-studded front row, Valerie Simpson, Karen Phillips, Judith Hoffman, Sharon Bowen, Gregory Generet, Amelia Ogunlesi, George Simonton, Amy Fine Collins, Dr. Joyce F. Brown, Jean Shafiroff and Infor’s Senior Product Director Bob McKee and CMO Chip Coyle all held the line. On the runway, actress Phylicia Rashad and her daughter Condola Rashad created a surprising stir, and it was all for a great cause: Sanctuary for Families, a nonprofit organization that reaches more than 10,000 domestic violence survivors and their children through direct services.
Designer b Michael and CEO Mark Anthony Edwards gave the organization a special salute for their efforts to combat human trafficking in New York.
For fall 2015, b Michael’s “American” collection was inspired by the empowerment of glamour in our modern world. Technology has become a way of life, and there is a craving for artistry and romance in our lives. His collection was designed for the way women and men live today. There are styles for traveling, dining and the way folks simply present themselves.
Silhouettes are sensuously evoking the power of glamour for an advanced lifestyle. Fabrics, as usual in his collections, are rich. Shapes of women’s clothing are feminine. There are fitted sheaths and styles with a full sweep of movement in dresses. Cuts are often provocative yet structured.
In his men’s clothing, the looks are expressive and seductive. His jackets offer b Michael’s signature shawl collar and tailored silhouettes. Ranging from day-to-evening clothes, the colors are precious gem tones.
Accessories featuring the designer’s signature gloves and fine jewelry enhanced this exquisite collection.
