Mike Epps to host ABFF Honors

Comedian Mike Epps has been tapped to host the inaugural ABFF Honors event. This Golden Globes-style awards gala is a salute to excellence in motion pictures and television. It will be held Sunday, Feb. 21 in Los Angeles.
ABFF Honors was created as part of the American Black Film Festival’s global initiative to develop platforms that showcase the work of people of African heritage as well as promote camaraderie amongst multicultural artists in Hollywood.
Everyone around town is still buzzing about the great job members of the Greater New York Chapter of the Links did to help usher in Domestic Violence Awareness Month with Her Justice’s Story by Story Stair Climb, which took place in Midtown Manhattan. The ladies who looked radiant in red T-shirts included Chapter President Rhonda Joy McLean and Links Charlita Caldwell, Joey Cole, Lybra Clemons, Linda Zango-Haley, Donna Jones and Gail Monroe-Perry.
Actress-activist Sheryl Lee Ralph hosted her annual “DIVAS Simply Singing!” extravaganza Saturday, Oct. 24 at the Montalban Theatre in Hollywood. The show honored Jordin Sparks, Dr. Rachel Ross, Sade Oyinade, Cathy Elliott and Hydeia Broadhurst, as well as provided performances by some of the most talented divas in entertainment, including Loretta Devine, Jenifer Lewis. Erica Campbell, A’ngela Winbush, Alyson Williams and the Supremes’ Mary Wilson.
Bill Cosby and his former lawyer Martin Singer will have to give new depositions in Janice Dickinson’s defamation case over her allegations of sexual assault. Last November, the model and former “America's Next Top Model” judge came out against Cosby, telling “Entertainment Tonight” that he drugged and raped her in 1982.
The NYC Stands for the Troops Veterans Day Concert will take place Wednesday, Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. at the Concert Hall at the Ethical Cultural Auditorium in New York City. A-list performers for this incredible night of laughter, entertainment and fun include Little Anthony, Bettye LaVette, the Manhattan Transfer, Paul Shaffer and a special guest appearance by Judy Collins.
