Dear 2016,

This is the beginning of my 11th year writing “Talking SCHOP!” and other food-related stories for the Amsterdam News. That’s about 800 pieces on restaurants, recipes, chefs, food purveyors, festivals, travel, products and more. This native Harlemite and New Yorker is forever grateful for the opportunity to be in food, journal about it and share with our readers.

This year, our team plans on finding even more gems to showcase in fun and interactive ways through video, events, contests, social media and more. It will not be an easy task, but it will be rewarding and fulfilling and most certainly filling and delicious.

However, we cannot do all we want alone. So 2016, we are looking for some creative, ambitious, focused, passionate and resourceful interns to be part of the team. They should be from the five boroughs, 21 years of age or older with a passion for food and the business of food. They should have strong writing skills, be knowledgeable about, if not versed in, media, including video production, social media and producing online content as well as event management. Overall, we want people who love food and have a unique perspective on food in our city that they want to share.

Interested applicants should email us at AmNewsFOOD@ischop.com with writing samples and links to their social media and posted work, as well as no more than 200 words telling us their food story and why they would make an awesome intern for AmNewsFOOD.
