The Rev. Jesse Jackson is headed to the city for the 19th Annual Wall Street Project Economic Summit, Feb. 16 through Feb. 18, at the Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel.
This year’s theme is “Wall Street: The New Paradigm—Access to Opportunity.” The project encourages corporate America to recognize the value that minority entrepreneurs, vendors and consumers bring to the marketplace and ensure equal access and opportunities for culturally diverse companies, consumers and employees.
Jackson recently named Wall Street veteran Maxine Leftwich as executive director of the Wall Street Project for 2016. Leftwich is the founding principal of LS Financial Group, a financial advisory and management consulting firm that was based in New York. She also worked closely with the Clinton Administration and served as financial advisor to several cities, including Chicago, Denver and East St. Louis.
Speakers at this year’s summit include Mayor Bill de Blasio, Congresswoman Maxine Waters, City Comptroller Scott Stringer and Abyssinian Baptist Church Senior Pastor Calvin O. Butts.
The Wall Street Project Gala Fundraiser will take place Wednesday, Feb. 17 and will feature a performance by Philip Bailey, lead singer of Earth, Wind and Fire.
