That’s right, the second annual Harlem EatUp! is now officially upon us! The four-day festival celebrating the food, art and culture of Harlem will descend upon our village by patrons near and far. Last year proved to be an exciting event filled with many firsts. Let’s see what this year brings.
Harlem EatUp! Honorary Chair President Bill Clinton and festival co-founders Marcus Samuelsson and Herb Karlitz announced the second annual Harlem EatUp! Festival will take place May 19 - 22, 2016 at various Harlem locations, including two days at Morningside Park. Tickets for the four-day festival went on sale March 18, 2016 at www.HarlemEatUp.com.
“Last year, the entire community came together to commemorate and celebrate a neighborhood I love, Harlem, at the inaugural Harlem EatUp! festival,” said Clinton. “It is an honor to be a part of this festival as it continues to gain momentum into its second year. I have been coming to Harlem for more than 45 years, and my office has been here for 15 years. This festival is truly a great representation of the remarkable people and culture that make this community so vibrant.”
Brought to us in part by founding sponsor, Citi, and platinum sponsors, Aetna, Bordeaux Wine Council and Macy’s, the 2016 Harlem EatUp! Festival will continue to celebrate the food, entertainment and arts that represent the spirit of Harlem, while paying homage to its roots and cultural fabric. Among the restaurants participating in this year’s festival are Sylvia’s, Red Rooster, Melba’s, Charles’ Country Pan Fried Chicken, Dinosaur Bar-B-Que, The Cecil, Vinateria, Blujeen, Row House and so many more.
“The Harlem EatUp! Festival is inspired by the community, culture, hospitality and energy that we feel here every day in Harlem,” said Samuelsson. “Highlighting the food, art, music and culture that makes this neighborhood so vibrant, this festival continues to shine a light on the abundance of homegrown Harlem businesses and talent right here inside of this community.”
As part of its mission and dedication to Harlem, the festival’s net proceeds will be donated to Harlem Park to Park and Citymeals-on-Wheels, two non-profit organizations that have a positive and direct impact on the Harlem community.
“For the second year we will all come together to celebrate Harlem,” said Karlitz, president of Karlitz & Company. “Last year was truly special, with so many restaurants and artists collaborating. This year we welcome even more restaurants, celebrity chefs and sponsors."
Harlem EatUp! 2016 looks like it will give the 2015 festival a run for its money. See you there!
