Friendship Baptist Church celebrates 80th anniversary

One of the oldest churches in New York will be celebrating their 80th anniversary, starting Nov. 5. The celebration will include a luncheon and four dynamic services that will span three Sundays.
The church then relocated to 447 Elton St., which is currently the Bethelite Institutional Baptist Church, in East New York.
The Friendship Baptist Church is most famously known as the place where the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King gave a sermon.
Olivia Ridley, a member of the board of trustees, said, “We are very grateful that we still stand after 80 years.”

3:30 p.m.—the Rev. Dr. Calvin O. Butts III, pastor, Abyssinian Baptist Church, Harlem, N.Y.
