Tamika Mallory and Nicole Paultre-Bell host third Black Lives Matter Summit at LaGuardia Community College

Thursday, April 20, 2017, noted civil rights activists Tamika D. Mallory and Nicole Paultre-Bell will be hosting their third Black Lives Matter Summit at LaGuardia Community College (31-10 Thomson Ave., E-building, Mainstage Theater, Queens). This event will take place between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. During this event, more than 12 speakers will be having discussions about social issues such as the BLM movement, women’s issues, Islamic rights and resistance movements.
Mallory is well-known for her work as an anti-violence advocate, as founder of Mallory Consulting and as the NYC co-chair of the Gun Violence Awareness Month Initiative. Paultre-Bell was the fiancé of Sean Bell, who was shot and killed by NYPD cops in 2006 on his wedding day. Since then, she has been an activist and continues to fight for Sean Bell and other victims of reported racial killings by police officers. Both women will be keynote speakers at this event. Other notable speakers are LaGuardia VP of Student Affairs Michael Baston; attorney Omar Mohammedi, Esq., Imam Talib Abdur Rashid, Imam of the Mosque of Islamic Brotherhood, a Sunni house of worship in Harlem; and Aisha al-Adawiya, founder of Women in Islam, Inc. This event is free and open to the public.
