Greetings! Happy New Year! Its GBE Emancipation Month 2017. The Apollo’s Uptown Hall Series with WNYC present their annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration entitled “Where Do We Go From Here? MLK and the Future of Inclusion,” Sunday Jan.15, 2017 at 3 p.m. WNYC’s Brian Lehrer and Jami Floyd moderate this timely discussion on the future of social justice movements in the wake of the election. Other guests include New York Daily News senior justice writer Shaun King, Black Lives Matter co-founder Opal Tometi, President of Brooklyn NAACP L. Joy Williams, Justice League NYC civil rights activist ​Tamika Mallory and more. The event includes performances by hip-hop recording star and social activist Talib Kweli and singer-songwriter Marcelle Davies-Lashley.
