Make America Great Again—Trump Must Go! #22
On Wednesday, President Trump returned to one of his favorite targets—the media. Doubling down on his message of the past that the press and the media are the “enemy of the people,” his most recent tweet castigates The New York Times. “The failing #New York Times writes false story after false story about me. They don’t even call to verify the facts of a story,” he tweeted.
Moreover, in a retweet: “A fake News joke! Some of the Fake News media likes to say that I am not totally engaged in health care. Wrong. I know the subject well & want victory for U.S.”
It’s mind-boggling that a delusional, addled-brain president can refer to the media as “fake news,” when, if anyone, he has been the chief purveyor—make that prevaricator—of false, inaccurate and wrongly exaggerated news.
We’ve gone over this before about his attack on the media and the press, but because he’s brought it up again let us repeat what was said before—our president can’t handle the truth! He is absolutely allergic to transparency, unfamiliar with facts and a leader who deliberately lies to the American people.
Recently, in the press he so vehemently dismisses, there was a page of exaggerations Trump has made since he has been in the Oval Office. But let’s not go back that far because that would exhaust the limits of our editorial.
All we need in order to make our case is to cite a few exaggerations from a recent speech Trump delivered in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. To begin with, he told the Iowans that all the insurance companies had fled the state, which is a patent lie. Trump then, beating his chest, claimed to have signed 40 bills into law. It’s unfathomable that chipping away at Obama’s accomplishments can be translated into major legislation.
Trump exaggerated his claim to have the highest increase in the Pentagon’s budget, though there have been at least 10 higher military budget increases since 1977. There were inaccurate claims about the Paris agreement, which he scuttled, and the action taken to undo Obama’s normalization policy with Cuba.
And the president certainly exaggerates in his charges against the press and the media. If he wants to see a true reflection of the tirade of falsehoods, distortions and distractions from the truth, all he has to do is take a look in the mirror.
I think you get the point about Trump’s lies and exaggerations, and we can’t exaggerate enough our claim that to Make America Great Again—Trump Must Go!
