Reports indicate that entertainer and musician Christopher ‘Big Black’ Boykin has died at age 45. His cause of death has not been confirmed.

Boykin is best known for being half of the duo Rob & Big on MTV, which followed him and his co-star, skateboarder Rob Dyrdek.

Born in Raleigh, Miss., Boykin was a U.S. Navy veteran before rising to fame. Dyrdek hired Boykin to be his bodyguard before the two starred in their own reality show Rob & Big on MTV. The show ran from November 2006 to April 2008 airing a total of 31 episodes.

Boykin was also a clothing designer with his own line called "Do Work."

“MTV is deeply saddened to learn the news of Christopher ‘Big Black’ Boykin’s passing,” MTV said in a statement. “He was a long time and beloved member of the MTV family and will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends at this time.”

Boykin leaves behind a nine-year-old daughter.
