Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia recently kicked off its Resort ’18 collections. Designer Dion Lee opened the event and debuted his dashing collection at the Sydney Opera House to more than 500 national and international industry media, buyers and VIP guests. Lee started the week off with a fashion blast.
Lee’s collection featured sophisticated silhouettes and exaggerated cuts. For the first time, he included a clever capsule line just for boys and also added accessories to the mix with sunglasses and brimmed hats. Lee is well-established and one of the most critically lauded fashion innovators on the Australian scene. After graduating from Sydney Institute of Technology in 2009, he was the first designer to produce a fashion show at the Sydney Opera House in 2010. He has also shown his collection at London Fashion Week in 2012 and recently presented his fall 2016 collection at New York Fashion Week. Great to see him at the Australia Fashion Week. His show was exciting!
Albus Lumen presented her Resort ’18 collection outdoors at La Parle Deux for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia in a patio garden setting. Lumen’s looks were smartly styled and modern. Swimsuits were shown with jackets or cover-ups. There were raincoats, suits, and dresses in white, ecru and even black. For day, lengths are longer. The handkerchief scarf was spotted with some looks reminiscent of the late Audrey Hepburn’s styles. These looks were very ladylike and sophisticated.
Lumen provides comfort in simplicity. Her clothes were lightweight and simply cut, making them very easy to wear and easy to just pack up and go. These designs are not influenced by the trends. You can see the focus on the core elements and the detailed minimalism. Her understated luxury with a fashionable edge is very noticeable. Stars such as Lauren Hutton, Daria Werbowy and Anne Ewers are her muses. She designs for women who are about being quietly confident and powerfully feminine.
