Attorney and longtime community organizer Landon Dais is named political director of the Marijuana Policy Project’s New York affiliate.

Dais spent his career in law, community organizing, government affairs and political campaigns. He joins MPP-NY from the law firm of Forchelli, Curto, Deegan, Schwartz, Mineo & Terrana, where he was a litigation attorney. He’s also a member of the board of directors of Harlem Congregations for Community Improvement.

“We hope Gov. Cuomo will give veterans and other sufferers of trauma the option to use a treatment that may help them, and one that is far safer and less addictive than many of the drugs currently prescribed for PTSD,” he said. “I look forward to working with the administration, senators and Assembly members and all elected officials to provide information about the relative safety of marijuana as compared to alcohol and opiates and urging them to adopt more sensible marijuana policies.”

Along with Dais, former Sen. Alfonse D’Amato will serve as a senior adviser for MPP-NY. The organization has been working since July to help strengthen the medical cannabis program in the state.
