Actress, activist and producer, Kerry Washington, is being honored by Lehman College during its 50th Anniversary Celebration and Leadership Awards Dinner at the Ziegfeld Ballroom in New York City, April 11.

Washington will receive the Lehman Award for Artistic Achievement during the ceremony. A Bronx native, Washington attended classes taught by her mother, Valerie Washington, a now-retired professor in the Early Childhood Education Department at Lehman. Valerie Washington also serves as the chair of the board of directors for the Lehman College Center for the Performing Arts.

Along with Washington, Lehman College will also honor alumni Phyllis and Ivan Seidenberg, Joanne Walsh and Christopher Stavrou, and the President’s Medal will be awarded posthumously to Edith and Herbert H. Lehman.
